5 Tips for Planning a Microwedding

A microwedding is a smaller, more intimate wedding featuring a much smaller guestlist. Dramatically increasing in popularity since COVID-19, these tiny weddings were already on the rise due to the substantial cost savings and less complicated planning than for large ceremonies. If you’re contemplating one of these modern mini weddings, there are a few important things to consider.

1. Find the Perfect Venue for your microwedding

Since you’re having fewer guests than a traditional wedding, your options for venues really opens up! Consider more unique venues or even a destination wedding since you have to consider fewer accommodations for less guests.

2. Narrow Down Your Guestlist

Admittedly the most difficult part, narrowing down your guestlist is quintessential to having a successful microwedding. Get your list down to only your nearest and dearest, the only people you and your fiance feel must be there. If your list is still looking a little bit long, reconsider allowing plus ones.

3. Use a Wedding Planner who knows about microweddings

While it may be tempting to consider planning your entire wedding yourself, especially since it is much smaller, this doesn’t eliminate all the headaches and hassles. Hiring a wedding planner takes this stress off of your shoulders allowing you to focus on your special day.

4. Splurge on an extras for an Amazing "Reception"

Since you are saving so much on other aspects of your wedding, a microwedding “reception” can be more luxurious. The lower guest count makes selecting the perfect venue, food, entertainment, and decor a lot simpler and more affordable.  Think about a personal chef, or a solo guitar player, or a mini- fireworks display.

5. Microweddings still need the best Photographer

Just because your wedding is micro, doesn’t mean you don’t want professional level photographs of the event. Take the time to research the perfect photographer, ensuring that you love the work in their portfolio and their style matches your taste.
